Competition for feeder and drinker space is beneficial to broiler breeder flocks, according to research by Dr. John Brake,
Dr. Brake said the research shows that the conventional wisdom about limiting feeding and drinking space is wrong. Competition in flocks for feeder and drinker space actually promotes uniformity in growth and has other benefits. For example, percentage of floor eggs was less for the lesser feeder or drinker space in several experiments.
