US and Euro lighting programs compared at IPSF

At today’s International Poultry Scientific Forum (IPSF), Auburn University researcher Dr. Roger Lien presented results from a study comparing broiler lighting programs used in the US and programs being proposed in the European Union.

When comparing National Chicken Council lighting guidelines with European proposals that call for longer dark periods, it was found that splitting the dark period with a short lighted “snack period” produced comparable flock performance.
